The Minister of Investment, Dr. Tareq Abu Ghazaleh, today sponsored the launch of the economic forum titled “Economic Modernisation Vision Unleashing Potential to Build the Future.”
In a speech delivered at the opening of the forum, Dr. Abu Ghazaleh affirmed that the Ministry of Investment, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, is moving forward with implementing the objectives of the Economic Modernisation Vision. This, he noted, contributes to strengthening development and building a strong and sustainable national economy, positively reflected in job creation and improved living conditions for citizens across all governorates of the Kingdom.
The Minister of Investment highlighted, during the forum which brought together representatives of national institutions and investment related bodies, along with a distinguished group of academics and specialists, the importance of integrated roles among ministries and national institutions to attract investment. He emphasised adopting a unified government approach led by the Ministry of Investment, grounded in a genuine and effective partnership between the public and private sectors.
Dr. Abu Ghazaleh emphasised that investment represents the primary pathway to building a strong and prosperous economy capable of generating opportunities, enhancing development, and creating jobs, thereby delivering tangible benefits to society that citizens can directly experience.
In this context, he emphasised the importance of development zones as an effective tool for attracting high quality investments and distributing development gains across the Kingdom’s governorates. He pointed to the Al Thuraya Development Industrial Zone in Mafraq Governorate as a successful model of this approach, noting that investments there have reached nearly JOD 197 million, providing approximately 2,000 direct job opportunities, which reflects its pivotal role in supporting development in Mafraq.
The forum, organized by the Al Thuraya Development Industrial Zone, aims to explore the best approaches, plans, and strategies to enhance economic development, attract investments, and meet investors’ needs, within a legislative framework that offers competitive incentives and advantages. Key topics discussed during the forum included the importance of the Economic Modernisation Vision and its programmes, ways to achieve its objectives, the investment environment, investment attracting policies, and the key opportunities and services provided to investors.
