Minister of Investment Discusses Strengthening Economic Partnerships and Attracting Investments with the European Chamber of Commerce

Amman – Minister of Investment Dr. Tareq Abu Ghazaleh discussed with the Board of Directors of the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan ways to strengthen economic and investment relations between Jordan and European countries, as well as mechanisms to attract further investments to the Kingdom, contributing to economic growth and job creation.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry headquarters, Abu Ghazaleh stressed the importance of building on the existing economic partnership between Jordan and European countries, noting that the Kingdom offers promising investment opportunities across several vital sectors. He emphasized the need to intensify promotional and marketing efforts to highlight the advantages of Jordan’s investment environment to European investors.

“The opportunity is significant, and we must place greater focus on promoting Jordan,” Abu Ghazaleh said, underscoring the vital role of the private sector in showcasing success stories and existing investments in the Kingdom, thereby strengthening foreign investors’ confidence in Jordan’s investment environment.

The Minister added that the Economic Modernization Vision serves as a roadmap for enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and increasing Jordan’s investment attractiveness through a focus on value-added sectors, improving the business environment, and expanding partnerships with the private sector.

He affirmed that the government is implementing reforms and measures under the Vision aimed at facilitating the ease of doing business and stimulating both domestic and foreign investments, further reinforcing Jordan’s position as a regional hub for investment and business.

Abu Ghazaleh also pointed out that Jordan’s security and stability, despite the challenges facing the region, represent a major competitive advantage that should be leveraged more effectively in attracting investments. He stressed the importance of promoting the Kingdom as a safe and stable destination for business and investment, as well as a strategic gateway for reconstruction and development projects across the region.

The Minister highlighted the important role played by the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan in representing the business community connected to European markets and praised its efforts in strengthening dialogue between the public and private sectors, contributing to the development of economic and trade relations between both sides.

For his part, Chairman of the Chamber, Engineer Mohammad Al-Sammadi, affirmed that the Chamber will work to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the European Union in support of the national economy, stressing the importance of studying European investors’ requirements and aligning them with Jordan’s investment map.

He noted that the coming phase will witness a major expansion in the Chamber’s activities and a stronger role as an active partner in implementing the Economic Modernization Vision and achieving its objectives, which focus on promoting growth, attracting investments, and expanding exports. He also emphasized the significant opportunities available for Jordanian products and exports to expand further within European Union markets.

Al-Sammadi pointed out that Jordan’s exports to European Union countries increased by 72.3 percent during the first two months of the current year, reaching JOD 112 million compared to JOD 65 million during the same period in 2025. He described this as a positive indicator reflecting the improved competitiveness of Jordanian products and the growing benefits derived from existing agreements.

He also stressed the importance of the Jordan-European Investment Conference, scheduled to be held before the end of this year, as a platform to explore serious investment opportunities and promote Jordan as a gateway to Iraq and Syria, particularly in relation to reconstruction projects.

Al-Sammadi further emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships with diplomatic missions and the Ministry of Investment, activate economic diplomacy, and promote successful projects as a key incentive for attracting foreign and European investors. He affirmed that Jordan possesses strong capabilities that position it to become a regional hub for high-value industries.

It is worth noting that the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan was launched in the second half of 2025, following three decades of operations under the Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA), becoming an independent organization representing the interests of European and Jordanian companies with European-oriented business activities in the Kingdom.

The Chamber works to enhance bilateral trade and investment within the framework of the EU-Jordan Partnership Agreement, while also building effective channels of dialogue between the private sector and decision-makers at both the national and European levels.
